A limited number of bus fare vouchers may be available to current LAWTON CAREER INSTITUTE students (not including students on externship) who can demonstrate a dire need for financial assistance. For initial assistance, students must have a minimum grade point average of a 3.0 (students in their first module must have accumulated enough grades to have their instructors submit a memo to the Director of Education indicating a minimum GPA of 3.0 for grade currently earned). A panel of Lawton administrators will review and choose students whom the school deems as eligible participants for the bus voucher program. Vouchers will be distributed weekly on Fridays and will be available to the first five (5) eligible students on a first come first serve basis. All students granted initial bus pass assistance, must maintain a 100% attendance (including no late arrivals or early leaves) each week (not including make-up Fridays) in order to be eligible for continued weekly support. Students are also required to maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average for the remaining modules in their program. The Bus Voucher Program will continue while school funding permits and student integrity is upheld. Applications are available in the Director of Education’s office.
Books, Supplies and other cost to students
The use of books, computers and copy paper for printers used in instruction are included in the total program cost. Supplies such as pens, pencils, highlighters, folders, notebooks, and USB (Universal Serial Bus) Port/Flash Drive must to be furnished by the students. Medical Assistant students must purchase a stethoscope and uniforms. Culinary Arts students are required to purchase both uniforms and knife sets. Students that receive a full Pell or partial grant(s) for tuition cost are responsible for balances that range from $650.00 to $850.00 (based on the program) plus any tuition cost the grant(s) do not cover. All students should have their supplies before the first day of class.
